When is the best time to spay or neuter my new 2-month-old kitten?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I just got a kitten yesterday. The owner said he’s about 2 months old. No shots or anything. He just started grabbing my blanket, kneading on it and it looks like he’s humping it. When would be a good time to get him spayed or neutered?

What a beautiful baby, congratulations! Spaying or neutering is usually done around four months of age, when they get their last kitten series vaccination and rabies. Make an appointment with your vet soon for a wellness check and to get started on the vaccinations so your new baby will have the best chance for a long and healthy life.
