My cat's eye looks reflective or cloudy. Is it serious or normal?

My cat has a reflection in his eye. Is this a serious condition that requires attention, or is it something he was born with?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your cat. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. He seems to have an opacity in his eye. This can be on the cornea (surface of his eye) or on the lens. He could have a scratch across his eye or even a scar. If the problem is on his lens, then a cataract is a possibility. His veterinarian will examine his eye with a special instrument called an ophthalmic scope. Some tests may be recommended as well. I hope this information helps!

This could be due to an eye condition that is just staring, it could be any eye condition, it could also be due to some dirt on the eye that cannot be seen with the naked eye. i would recommend monitoring it and take him to the vet if you have any doubts.

Does my cat have cataracts? Or is it something else?
It's a little difficult to tell in you picture but it looks like there is something in the anterior chamber of Lady's eye between the iris and the clear cornea - this might be inflammatory cells or the iris may be bowed forward. A cataract is an opacity on the lens behind the pupil. Lady's eye definitely looks abnormal and I would worry about her vision in that eye however - I would recommend having a vet examine the eye in person to determine what might need to happen next.

My cat's one eye is blurred with white
I am sorry to hear about your kitty. There could be a number of causes for a white appearance to the eye, including edema in the cornea/surface of the eye, uveitis (inflammation within the eye), Trauma to the surface of the eye, and more. Your kitty needs an in person exam by a veterinarian with an ophthalmoscope to determine the cause of the cloudiness and treat accordingly.

If your vet has recommended seeing a specialist, I would take their advice. Illnesses, cataracts, neurologic changes, and other issues can all be potential causes for clouding of the eye, and a specialist, or veterinary ophthalmologist will have the right tools and knowledge to better determine what it is and provide treatment options. i see what you mean about Rocky's eye. His cloudy eye could be caused by an infection, glaucoma, or corneal scratch to name a few causes. The only way to know for sure what is causing his cloudy eye is to have him seen by a vet, and I would make an appointment for him asap. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Starting today ive noticed my cat’s eye is getting very cloudly. We have an appointment on sat and he doesnt seem to be in pain. He is eating and running around playing with my dogs. He is eating just fine so we are very concerned about his eye.
Eyes are one of the things that I don't like to mess around with. I find that eyes heal quick or get bad quick. I would change your appointment to get Midnight evaluated tomorrow. Cloudiness in the cornea ( the clear part) of the eye can be secondary to an ulcer. Cats can get an ulcer due to trauma or due a virus. Feline herpesvirus loves to infect their eyes. These ulcers can be painful (cats are very good at hiding pain) and they can get deeper which can threaten their eyesight. The picture is a little blurry (understandably so), but I can see the cloudy cornea and it is possible the pupil is misshapen as well. Your veterinarian will stain the cornea with a special dye which is only taken up by the second layer of the cornea to check for an ulcer. Sometimes the ulcers secondary to the herpesvirus won't stain as well because they are thin. Your vet will provide topical eye medications and pain medications as appropriate.

Cloudiness in the eye can be caused by infection or injury/inflammation. Luna should be physically examined by your veterinarian today. A complete physical and ophthalmic exam may provide a diagnosis. Tear production testing, intraocular pressure testing and staining of the eye may all be done to provide a diagnosis. In the meantime, place an e-collar (cone) on her to prevent rubbing or pawing until she sees the vet.

Poor Bellamy. I see what you mean. This could be from an injury or an infection. It also looks like one pupil is bigger than the other. Any eye problem needs to be checked out promptly, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take him into a vet now.

Anything to make one eye less clear than the other is cause for concern. Blinking more in one eye or squinting the eye is a sign of ocular pain or discomfort. Corneal ulcerations or abrasions can cause these signs, as can viruses, glaucoma, inflammatory changes within the eye (referred to as anterior uveitis), among others. I would recommend getting your cat to the vet sooner rather than later, as eye injuries can worsen rapidly. Please do not wash her eye with water, as this can be irritating. A sterile saline based eye wash can be used to wash away excessive discharge until she can be taken to a vet for further evaluation. Also, purchase an Elizabethan collar or cone to prevent her from scratching or rubbing at the affected eye.

Hello! My cat who is about 8 months has what looks like a clear sort of bubble on his eye and I’m not sure if it’s something serious or if there’s just something in his eye. Any idea on what it is?
I can’t say for sure but it looks like there may just be some fur in his eye. Try to close his eyelid and see if you can get it to move around. If not then I worry it is something on or inside his cornea like an ulcer and I would have your vet take a look at him. ypur vet will be able to flush his out if needed and start him on the proper antibiotics.
