My 11-year-old budgie suddenly can't use his leg. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parrot | Male | 11 years old

My budgerigar is 11 years old, for the past 2 days he is having trouble moving one of his legs, it seems that he can't feal it and he is unable to walk. The leg doesn't seem to be hurt or broken because it doesn't hurt him if i touch it. The legs looks fine on the outside just as the healthy one.what can be wrong?

Thanks for reaching out about Arko. Aging budgies can get enlarged gonads or kidneys that can place pressure on the nerves going to the legs. A veterinary visit is recommended for assistance with a diagnostic/treatment plan. Good luck.
