My dog is itchy from tall grass. Can I give her Benadryl for relief?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Female | spayed | 8 months and 2 days old | 15 lbs

My dog likes to potty in tall grass. She has been really itchy lately. Starting to see skin through her hair. Skin is not read or inflamed and no bumps. Just wondering if I could give her some benadryl for the itching?

Benadryl can be used to help with environmental allergens. However if the itching continues even with home care, or you see signs of redness/irritation that do no resolve, having a vet take a look is a good idea to rule out any skin infections or check for allergies that may need different medications/treatment.
