My kitten's spay incision looks swollen and scabby. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 4 months and 30 days old | 3 lbs

I have a cpl female kitties I am looking after until I can find them a home, not sure of their exact age but think they may be about 14-15 weeks old. I found and took them and their mom in about 8 weeks ago. They recently got fixed about a week ago and I am a little concerned with how their incisions are looking. They seem more swollen (about the size of, if not bigger than, a marble) than any of the other cats have looked. The scabbing doesnt look too good either. I attached a couple photos

If they are very active they may get swelling like this along the incision. I would get your vet to have a look to make sure everything is okay and try to restrict their activity in the meantime so they don't further inflame the incision. Don't let them groom the incision too much either.
