How to stop my new Pitbull from biting, jumping, and barking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 11 months old

I have a 2 year old Bluenose Pitbull. We got him from a friend of mine about a week or two ago m. When we first got him he was a nice quiet dog who never barked at anything or anyone. I know he bites when he plays but how do i stop that because he always wants to bite my hand and jumps for it. Also now all of a sudden he started barking at a work construction sign?? How can I stop the biting and hyperness and barking. I’m afraid he’s going to become more comfortable with these habits

Hi there. I would recommend getting in touch with a good reward-based trainer in your area who can show you how to work on these issues. Training can help him learn to be more responsive to you, and the trainer should also be able to show you how to play with him in ways that don't encourage him to jump and bite at your hands or clothing.
