Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 3 years and 1 month old | 6 lbs
My chihuahua is 9:11 pounds and the vet says she’s overweight. She’s 3 years old. I was over feeding her but my question is how much exercise should she get because one she doesn’t walk very long, and the other thing is that her vet says she has weak knees because her knees go out she has a disorder where her knees go out. So should she get the 30 minutes walking that chihuahuas are supposed to get or less because of her knees? Please help! I’ve already cut back on food and treats.

Dogs rarely lose weight from getting more exercise. It is more about caloric intake. Many studies have shown this. So just cutting back on food/treats should do the trick. Just give her the normal exercise you have been doing. Twenty to thirty minutes a day is good. I think you are doing fine. No worries!
