Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | spayed | 9 lbs
My cat is 4 years old. She's very scrawny and she suffers from anxiety from past events, though I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. She was primarily an outdoors kitty until we moved last year, and now she's mostly indoors save for the moments where she escapes. She's been losing hair on the back of her legs and her tail which is very very thin. She grows it abnormally in her head and neck area. I'm worried about her tail and her legs and the patches nearest her ears.

Poor Luna! There could be a few different reasons for this abnormal hair growth. She may have problems with allergies and this could be to fleas, the environment or something in the food. A thyroid condition or an inappropriate diet can also cause abnormal hair growth. Your best option is to have Luna examined by the veterinarian and her thyroid levels tested. This will help to narrow down the potential causes quickly. A good diet for skin and coat health in general is Royal Canin or Nutro. You may try switching her to one of these diets. Best of luck.
