My guinea pig fell, moving slow & eating less. Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Guinea Pig | Female | 0.7 lbs

I have a 5-6month old guinea pig, I was holding her, about to put her back in her cage when she jumped out of my hands after I accidentally kicked a plate (scared her) and she landed on her side and started running away, now she is moving slower and eating less, shes still eating and drinking. Don’t know if I should bring her to a vet near me or if she will be okay in a few days. She let my partner pick her up too and we checked to see if her teeth were chipped or broken but nothing wrong there

I would give her some time to see how she is. She may have a bit of bruising and is just sore. If she stops eating, is very lethargic, starts limping, etc then you should get her to a vet for an exam.
