Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Parrot | Female

I have 2 budgies a male and a female and they live in a medium-sized cage and I noticed that they scratch themselves a lot so i gave them a bath but that didn't stop them from scratching and i don't know what to do but what really made me worried is that today while i was cleaning their cage i found a drop of blood at the bottom of the cage so i checked them but i didn't find any sign of blood on their bodies so i hope you can help me.

Thanks for reaching out about your budgies. Psittacines are meticulous groomers, constantly ruffling feathers. So this could be a normal behavior. But feather mights are not uncommon. If scratching to the extent of bleeding, a veterinary visit is recommended. Continue to offer bathing. Good luck.
