My cat's kittens died or were deformed. Is this normal after birth?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

My cat gave birth to 5 kittens May 25th and 3 of them died the first one died of a cleft palate and the second one was born with deformed feet and no tail so it dead from something with that probably and the other kitten we don’t know why it died and 2 days ago she gave birth to a dead purple kitten that wasn’t in a sac so she i guess had 6 kittens and when she was giving birth she didn’t give birth to one of the kittens placentas but she had it today.

I don't know what your question is exactly but this is highly abnormal. These complications could be from an incest breeding, an infection, a uterine abnormality (congenital) or a viral disease. This is not a cat that should be breeding. I suggest you give her a week or so to recover from giving birth and then get her spayed before she becomes pregnant again. She can still nurse kittens (if there are any still nursing) even after being spayed.
