My pregnant dog has diarrhea. What should I do to help her now?

I think my dog is pregnant and her poos are runny what do I do?? Help??

Poor Willow! Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Best of luck.

    Yes from the picture this does look normal for diarrhea. I can give you a home remedy for Willow to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Poor Bella! I'd take her into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can diagnose and treat the cause of her diarrhea, as well as determine if she is pregnant or not. I would keep giving the Betty the bland diet for the next couple of days, and then slowly add back in her normal adult dog food diet. She need to be off the puppy food now, as it's not recommended to feed a high calcium dog food in the last 10-14 days before giving birth. That's because too much calcium will prevent the uterus from contracting properly. Once she gives birth to her puppies, she can go back on the puppy food. If the diarrhea isn't clearing up, I would have Betty seen by a vet again. She may need additional medications to help with the diarrhea, which the vet can prescribe.

I would not recommend giving any of those products to a pregnant dog. None of those products are labeled for animals, let alone pregnant ones. If you absolutely must, I would use whichever one of those products make the claim of being safest in pregnant human women, which may not be any of them. However, I would strongly advise you find a way to have her seen by a veterinarian instead who might get you some medication that is both safe and effective. You might try taking her to your local humane society for inexpensive vet care. In the meantime, feed a bland diet at home like boiled chicken or hamburger and rice, and picking up a probiotic product like Fortiflora or Advita. Quite honestly, there aren't too many proven safe tools to use in pregnant dogs and the veterinarian may even tell you that she needs to tough it out depending upon severity of symptoms. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Diarrhea is never 'normal.' In a pregnant dog it could be due to hormones, impending labor, from worms or diet change (most put pregnant dogs on puppy food). I would contact your vet for medications since she is pregnant, start a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice and add in a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora. If Lucy is not fully vaccinated I would worry about viral infections as well. I wish you and Lucy the best!

My dog just gave birth to puppies a few days ago and now my dog has diarrhea is this normal/ what can I do to harden her stool?
This can happen after delivery. offer her boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues having diarrhea, take her to the vet to get treatment.

My Lucy had puppies 9 days ago now since yesterday she has diarrhea the veterinarian around here won’t see her unless I have money up front which I don’t have can you please help me for her
This may be caused by hormonal changes or an infection or a food indiscretion. You can try the following: I would fast Lucy for 24 hours and then put the dog on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to puppy food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

Hello. While the stool is not altogether abnormal, I can see your concerns. The first thing to do is take a sample to your veterinarian for a parasite analysis. You want to make sure Soska is not harboring intestinal worms that can be transmitted to her puppies. In the meantime, switch her to a bland diet for a few days. I use 75% white rice & 25% white chicken breast. A little low fat cottage cheese is OK. I would also start her on a good probiotic like Purina's FortiFlora. This is available over the counter. Hopefully, this will help normalize her bowel movements. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cookie. She will need to see her veterinarian today. It will be very easy for her to become dehydrated from the vomiting and diarrhea. She may require medication to control her symptoms, but options are limited due to her pregnancy. If you haven't had it done already, x-rays will be taken to count the number of puppies she is expecting. This information will help you during to labor to know if she has had all the puppies or not. That is very concerning, and I would try to get Bella into your vet as soon as possible with these symptoms. You can try enticing her to eat with a little bland boiled chicken and rice that is gentle on the stomach, however if she continues not to eat or get ill, she needs to be seen by your vet or a vet that is open right away.
