Vomiting blood is serious. The GI upset could be due to many conditions including eating something she shouldn't have, bacterial over growth, parasites (worms and giardia), poison, a bleeding disorder, pancreatitis, cancer or intestinal blockage. I recommend to have your pup examined by the veterinarian today. Try to remember to take in a stool sample. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth and other diagnostics may be recommended as well. She needs the correct diagnosis in order to receive appropriate care. She also needs medications and possible fluids. I hope Coco starts feeling better quickly! Please feel free to post any additional questions!

This is very serious, and it is a medical emergency if Coco is both pooping and throwing up blood. She could have gotten into something toxic, or is severely ill. She needs veterinary care now, please take her into one immediately.

I'm sorry to hear that Coco is so sick! It sounds like he really needs to go back to the veterinarian. He should have blood work and X-rays done to see if there is any other issues going on. If he has an intestinal infection he will likely need to be placed back on fluids and injectable antibiotics. I'm concerned that if he doesn't receive additional treatment soon he may pass away. Unfortunately with Coco being so sick there is not much that you can do at home. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach and I'm wishing Coco a speedy recovery!

I am sorry to hear about Coco! If she is acting normally (eating normally, not vomiting, normal energy level, no sign of abdominal pain), you can try giving her a few teaspoons of canned pumpkin to add fiber to her diet to help things pass through. Alternatively, you could pick up a product called Laxatone which is a cat hairball laxative sold at pet stores (there are other brand names as well). If, however, Coco starts vomiting, has decreased appetite or energy, has abdominal pain or is straining to have a bowel movement these would be signs to seek veterinary care as soon as possible. Best of luck to you and Coco!

Yes, I would take Coco into the vet. It's concerning that he's been vomiting for over 24 hours now, and he could be suffering from a severe GI illness, may have parvovirus if he isn't fully vaccinated, or could have eaten something rotten. I would take him into a vet today. I hope this helps, good luck!
