Why was my cat's eye swollen and barely open, but now it's okay?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 7 months old | 8 lbs

What could be going on with his eye?? Last night I noticed Chewie was barely opening of his eyes and I looked closer at his face and his cheek/eye area seemed to be swollen. There was nothing else noticable different other than that. Today I checked on him and he looks totally fine now... The pictures attached are from yesterday.

It could be a dental problem, or it could be Chewie had something in his eye. I would keep a close eye on him for now, and if he starts having these problems again, have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.
