My fish has popeye and now its eye is bleeding. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I have 3 fish and one has popeye/ bubble disease. When cleaning their fish tank I put them in a small bowl. When I finished I saw that his eye was bleeding. Did his eye rupture?

Thanks for reaching out about your fish and including photos. Don't think it ruptured as these usually collapse. Corneal bleeding can be due to trauma or ruptured blood vessels from disease. Check and correct water quality. A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and establish a diagnostic/treatment plan. Good luck.
