Why won't my new red ear slider turtle eat after I brought it home?

I bought a red ear slider turtle yesterday at 430pm the pet store didn't feed dinner and I am concern because I tried to feed him he didn't eat I tried again this morning and still nothing. All he wants to do is swim in the water.

Thanks for reaching out about Sammy. It does take some time for animals to adjust to new environments. Are you feeding the same food as the store? Check and correct husbandry (water temperature, haul out temperature, UVB exposure). Good luck.

    Teddy may certainly be stressed from travel and the change in environment. Continue to offer pellets and a variety of appropriate food. Some feeder fish can be placed in the tank as well. Check the water temp and ambient temp to confirm they are in the appropriate ranged. Low temps can affect appetite and activity.
