My pet has a prolapse after surgery. Is it serious? Was she spayed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I know I'm kinda bypassing the system by doing this but, thank you for the advice, Dr. A. Hidson. I wish there was more I could do but sadly I'm just a poor 18 year old living with their parents who has no control over what they do. I'll try to tell my mom the info in the morning. She had it before she was spayed but I am to assume they spayed her. They also removed some tumors so I'm not sure. They could have just removed the tumors and not spayed and didn't tell us? I don't know but.. Thank u

I'm glad you are trying to help. I understand your situation. I suspect she was not spayed before this happened. I can't tell 100% from the "after surgery" picture but there does seem to be an abdominal incision that I can maybe vaguely make out meaning they spayed her. Regardless, they need to get her back for a recheck. Most vets do a free recheck exam for post-op patients so they should take advantage of that. If the prolapse was pink like it was in the first photo I would not be as concerned. The purple color is very bad......
