Baby dove chest inflates, struggling to breathe. What to do at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Wild Bird | Female | unspayed | 2 days old | 0.011 lbs

I came across an egg of dove . After 1 day of its birth it's chest and lower chest region started inflating. I searched about it and was confused whether it was suffering from aspergillus or air sac rupture. Whenever I feed my bird it chest inflates too much and deflates after 2 to 3 hours a little. It used to breathe by its beak and produce a clicking sound. There is no vet near me . How should I treat him ?

You cannot treat either air sac rupture or aspergillosis on your own. Both need veterinary intervention. Aspergillosis would not be common in a newly hatched bird; air sac rupture can heal quickly and easily with proper veterinary treatment. Since you did not provide your correct location I cannot assist you in finding someone to help you. If you don't want to take her to a vet then you need to find a wildlife rehabilitator to take her.
