Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 8 lbs
My cat is 14 months old (indoor only) and has been experiencing muscle spasms for about 8 months. The spasms started when he developed a fever, but the fever subsided within days after I gave him antibiotics. The muscle spasms have continued since then, and occur a couple times per hour. He doesn’t seem to be in any discomfort whenever the muscle spasms occur. Blood work is normal. Getting a serology test this week to see if it might be an infectious disease. Any help would be appreciated!

It sounds like you are doing the right things and are on the right track. I also do not know what the spasms are from but often, if a fever is high enough, that can cause damage to the brain which in turn can be sending abnormal messages to the muscles. You may not find an underlying cause. If no infectious diseases are found then a muscle biopsy would be the next step. You still may not get an answer or if you do get an answer there may not be anything you can do about it. Medicine is hard sometimes.....we want answers but we don't always get them. The other possibilities is that these spasms may be focal motor seizures and occasionally anti-seizure medication can be used to treat. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
