Found a baby squirrel. What precautions for my unvaccinated pug puppy?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 29 days old | 5 lbs

Hi, I found a baby squirrel today, and I am trying to keep him alive until I can take him somewhere tomorrow. I have a (almost) four month old pug who has not had her third round of immunizations. Besides keeping the two separated, are there any other precautions I can take? I am worried the puppy could catch a disease. Thank you

If the squirrel and Mia are not in direct contact with each other there are no diseases I’d be concerned about. Keeping them separated and minimizing your handling of the baby squirrel should be sufficient.
