Is it safe for my dog to fly with uveitis, or should he be boarded?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 7 years and 10 months old | 11.6 lbs

Hello, my dog was diagnosed with uveitis today. I am planning to see our primary vet on Tuesday to start determining the underlying cause of the uveitis, but am also supposed to be flying with my dog Wednesday morning. I was wondering if flying him with uveitis is ok, or if I should board him while I'm gone? Any advice is much appreciated!

Since Otto was just diagnosed with uveitis, I think it would be best to board him. I would make arrangements for that, but speak to his vet on Tuesday. If the vet feels it's ok to fly with him, then you can cancel the boarding and take him with you. Best of luck.
