My dog might have swallowed a staple. What symptoms to watch for?

While stapling something a stapler fell. I couldnt tell if it fell on the floor or the table but i have vaccumed the carpet. I also dont know if it was open or closed. If my dog managed to eat it how would i know? I dont think he did as he wasnt in the same room. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 20 lbs
