Why does my dog twitch and scratch when I pet his lower back?

when i pet my dogs lower back it sometimes twitches and he’ll start scratching just under his ribs with his back paw (kind of like he’s ticklish). i’ve noticed it’s also more prominent on the right side. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

The two most common reasons for this type of behavior would be that Charlie does have a naturally more sensitive area or a ‘sweet spot’. This is not pathologic. Another cause is a skin infection or fleas so check his skin very thoroughly for any abnormalities and have him examined by the veterinarian if needed. Best of luck.
