As long as your dog isn't vomiting and is not lethargic, its reasonable to try to treat at home. If he or she is vomiing or seems lethargic/dumpy or is not eating at all, please take him or her to the vet. To treat at home, withhold food for about 8 hours (as long as its not a young puppy less than 3 months old). Then offer boiled chicken and white rice rather than normal dog food, with about 1/2 of a normal meal amount of food. The second day, feed a normal amount but continue chicken and rice for about 3 days. Add a probiotic as well, you can pick up a dog probiotic at any pet store. If its not improving in 3-4 days or he or she stops eating, is vomiting, or becomes lethargic, please take your dog to a vet. Thank you for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!

I am sorry that Tucker is having diarrhea. IF he is eating, drinking and acting normal I would recommend giving him a bland diet for 24-48 hours. This could be boiled chicken and white rice in smaller meals through the day. You can also start an over the counter dog probiotic to help harden up the stool. If the diarrhea is not improving I would recommend taking him to a vet incase he has parasites or sever colitis. However if he is vomiting, lethargic, no eating, vomiting or the feces has blood present I would recommend taking him to a vet to make sure he does not need more aggressive treatment. Hope that helps

Resolution and eventually medications would depend on the underlying cause of it. If only dietary related usually I would recommend to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation (where you can post pictures ) if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

She might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 12 hours then offer Baby girl boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If the diarrhea does not resolve, take her to the vet to get treatment.
