My dog is limping, vet closed. Can I give her leftover Rimadyl?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Welsh Corgi | Female | spayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 17 lbs

My corgi suddenly started limping. I’ve examined her and the leg and feet seem ok. My vet is closed this weekend due to the holiday. Is it ok to give her some of her Rimadyl left over from her spay surgery until I can go to the vet in a few days?

Hi there. As long as Ellie is otherwise healthy, rimadyl is fine to give at the labeled dose. She may have a sprain that will resolve, but I would make sure you rest her and if the limp does not improve take her in when your vet opens. I hope that helps.
