My paralyzed dog on crate rest has bloody diapers. Is it stress?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) | Female | spayed | 4 years old

I have a paralyzed sausage dog. She became paralyzed a week ago. She is currently on crate rest for 6 weeks. She is wearing diapers. She just had a bloody diaper (see pic). Is this caused by stress because she hates being confined to that crate.

I recommend taking Chloe to the veterinarian. This can be bloody urine which can be caused by a urinary tract infection, bladder stones or a kidney issues. If it is liquid diarrhea it can be stress related but she needs medication and fluids to help her through this. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
