Feral cat with new kittens: Should I bring them inside for safety?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed

I've been feeding a feral cat for about 2 years and she just had kittens about 3 weeks ago. Should I try to trap her and the kittens and bring them inside for safety or is it better if I just leave them alone?

It might really stress her out to be inside if she's never been inside, so I would just leave out food for her, and set up a shelter for her and her kittens. I would try to catch her after the kittens have weaned, and have her spayed. If she will allow it, I would try to handle the kittens to tame them so you can find them homes. I hope this helps!
