Is my 15-week-old Labradoodle puppy getting too much exercise?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labradoodle | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 18 days old

Hello, I've got a 15 week old labradoodle. I was wondering if I could get some advise on walking him, at the moment my partner takes him out for an hour every morning (off the leas, fetching the ball) and when I get home from work, rather i take him out for 15 minutes or we go on another hours walk together. I was just wondering if we are over exciting him? And what would you suggest?

I think thats an appropriate amount of exercise for a 15 week old labradoodle. Giving him a healthy outlet to use up that puppy energy will help keep him out of trouble and will maximize his focus and attention when you are working with him on training. The only other suggestion would be to ensure that you ARE taking some time to train him to walk on a leash. Leash walks will be a valuable skill that will serve both of you well for his entire life. https://www.hillspet.com/dog-care/training/leash-training-puppy Thank you for asking PetCoach!

Great question. For puppies, they should get five minutes of exercise for every month of age twice a daily. For Reginald's age, he should be getting 15 minutes twice a day. When it's 4 months old, he can get 20 minutes twice a day. I hope this helps!
