Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Russian Blue | Female | spayed | 6 years and 4 months old

could it be that Zymox ear exema drops cause my cat's eye pupils to over-dilate? i may have spritzed too much Zymox in voth her ears. or the fault was someone and something else . please let me know what you think about too much Zymox in her ears. thanks very much. obviously we can get to Dr. Fal at Fitzgerald's Veterinary if we have to. her eyes are better, but not okay after 17 hours. i thought it seems like belladonna and know i didn't give her Belladonna unless that's what Zymox is?

Hello. It is possible that your kitty has a sensitivity to the Zymox, but really anything, even water, can cause a reaction in the inner ear. The first thing to do is stop using the Zymox, & be very, very careful about ever putting anything in her ears. For the most part, Zymox is very safe. I know of no broad spread problems with this product. But individual animals can react in odd or strange manners to some medications, even benign ones. It might be a good idea to have your cat examined by your veterinarian to make sure nothing else is amiss & especially to make sure the ear drums are OK & have not been ruptured. Make sure you tell your vet about this possible reaction between the Zymox & the dilated eyes as this may impact what can be used in the future.
