My dog barks all night. Are anti-bark collars safe and effective?

Hello I have a 5 month old rescue dog who won’t stop barking at night (probably separation anxiety once he comes out of deep sleep). What are thoughts on anti barking electronic devices? Recommended or not kind to animals? Do they work?
