How often do dogs have to be coughing for to suggest heart failure ! My dog is heaving/coughing but only very minimal. Pet's info: Dog | Bichon Frise | Female | 12 years and 4 months old

Your vet will be able to tell a lot just from an exam - listening to her heart and lungs with a stethoscope. If you don't want to take her to the vet then all you can do is monitor her.
