My goose suddenly can't walk, has weak legs, and is disoriented. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Domestic Fowl | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 23 days old

My young goose has suddenly become unable to use his legs properly. He seems a bit disoriented and is having difficulty walking. He's taking shaky steps with his legs splayed out then just losing balance and sitting down. He doesn't have any visible wounds but has previously had a little limp for a day or 2 which went away. Not sure if this is related? I live in Vietnam so he may have been bitten by something poisonous? He's drinking lots and eating but I have to put it in front of him.

This sounds like a nutritional issue. What are you feeding him? Geese need to eat waterfowl food and not chicken feed. If you are feeding chicken feed then he is probably deficient in niacin.
