Is my dog's isolating and pacing normal after being neutered?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Male | neutered | 3 years and 3 months old

Sonny was neutered earlier today and he’s been home since 4pm but keeps isolating himself and going into the garden. He keeps pacing around our garden table and just stands still at points. Is this normal behaviour after being neutered?

Yes, its normal to be a little "out of it" following anesthesia. By tomorrow morning this type of behavior should be resolved. Make sure he is wearing an E-collar (cone) so that he doesn't lick at it. Thanks for assign Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
