There are medications that can be given to dogs to help with car sickness. Letting your vet know that Coco gets car sick is best as they can provide you with a prescription or the correct dose of an over the counter medication to help. Usually, you'll give it about 30-60m before the car ride. Making sure Coco has a place where she can lay down and relax comfortably may help as well.

Hi there. Sorry Lola gets so car sick. I do too so I understand how miserable it feels! There is a great drug made just for this issue called Cerenia. You can only get it from your vet but it works great and continues to work for a whole 24 hours after administration. That would be my first choice as it will not make her drowsy or have any other side effects. I am unsure if you can get it in Brazil but if you can, do that. https://cerenia.com/ The next best option would be Dramamine (generic name: dimenhydrinate). Again, I don't know if you have that in Brazil. It is for humans. Medium to large dogs should be given 25 to 50 milligrams of Dramamine at least an hour before traveling in a car; small dogs should get about 12.5 milligrams. May need to be re-dosed every 8-12 hours. The final option would be another human drugs called meclizine. Brand name formulations of this drug include Bonine® and Antivert®. The dose for any dog would be one tablet (25mg) one hour prior to travel and may need to be re-dosed every 8-12 hours. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

It really is the worst when poor Clara can’t even enjoy a good car ride. But not to fear there are many medications available on the veterinary market that should be able to help you and her enjoy many trips in the future. There’s a class of veterinary drugs called the anti-emetics which are medications prescribed from the veterinary office to keep your dog from vomiting. Three of the most common medications prescribed are cerenia (maropitant), metoclopramide, or acepromazine. Please make an appointment with your veterinarian to see which of these medications they believe is best for Clara and her age. These medications work quite well. I hope this helps. Have a great day.

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. The best medication for car sickness is a drug called Cerenia that you must get from your vet. It works the best and the longest with the least side effects. You can also try meclizine or Dramamine which you can get over the counter although it is best to check with your vet before giving any over the counter medications. Hopefully this will happen with Gizmo. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
