Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 1 year old | 50 lbs
i have a 1 year old pit bull/ wiener dog mix. we got him from a friend when he was about 2 months old. he’s had these sores on his chin since we got him but they’ve never been bad until just recently. could you help me in figuring out what it is??

I am sorry to hear about Jasper! Chin pyoderma, or a bacterial infection of the skin on the chin is not uncommon in dogs, and sometimes can get severe. I would recommend bringing Jasper to a vet for examination because it looks like his case could require systemic antibiotics now rather than just topical treatment. They may also prescribe medication to decrease the inflammation. I would recommend switching to metal bowls if you are using plastic and washing the bowls daily with hot soapy water, and once the infection is under control then sometimes a daily treatment with a Malaket wipe http://mal-a-ket.com/ or Duoxo wipe or mousse https://www.douxo.com/us/douxo-solutions/douxo-chlorhexidine can help keep it under control.
