Why is my dog's stomach making strange gurgling sounds? Is it gas?

Darma is my 11 year old toy manchester terrier. She sleeps with me. Last night for about half an hour there were strange noises from inside her body I had never heard before. Not related to breathing; is her inside plumbing breaking down or is it just like when our stomach growls? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 10 years and 11 months old | 27 lbs

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Sometimes, especially if there is more gas inside Darma's gastrointestinal tract, you can hear more gut sounds. This is similar to our stomach "growling". As long as she is not experiencing signs of vomiting or diarrhea, and she is acting herself and eating well, I would not be concerned!
