Why are my dog's eyes suddenly cloudy or white? Is he going blind?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Is it possible that 3 yr old dog's both eyes get cloudy or white suddenly in two days or become blind ? What disease or disorder can cause this ? Is this treatable ?

Yes, it is possible but without doing an ocular examination +/- some testing I cannot tell you what is the underlying cause. Some possibilities: * cataracts * glaucoma * "blue eye" - immune mediated response * fungal infection * retinal detachment * PRA - progressive retinal atrophy * trauma - (ie: intraocular hemorrhage) * lens luxation * optic neuritis * brain stem disease * retinitis * uveitis These are just the diseases I can think of at this moment. The dog should see a veterinarian.
