My dog has a rash on his back. Is it serious and what should I do?

This rash could be caused by an allergic reaction, fleas, mites, or a skin infection. I would have your cousin take Mak into the vet tomorrow. The vet can diagnose what is causing the rash, and can treat him. I hope this helps!

    Hello and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! To me that looks like it could be a rash related to a mite (like demodex) or a bacterial infection. In that area it could also be a result of a flea allergy or even a topical reaction if you have applied anything to that area recently. It would be a good idea to take Boyshow to your veterinarian so that a skin scrape and cytology sample can be obtained. These diagnostics will show if mites or bacteria are causing the problem and an appropriate medication (like antibiotics) can be dispensed.
