My cat died after dental issues and facial swelling. Was it sepsis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Facial swelling on the right, blood test fBNP abnormal(heart),5 April 2019, surgery of sucking the pus from the right face and dental cleaning. Or antibiotic for facial swelling, another day surgery? Worse 6 April. Drugs on 6 April, my cat vocalized loud all night and day until 7 April, he was very exhausted but couldn't sleep. Are the strong side effects of Mirtazapine 3.75mg, theophylline? To the same clinic again 7 April. My cat's heart beat stopped and died at the clinic. Sepsis? Thank you

I'm so sorry this happened. Unfortunately despite everyone's best efforts some patients do not respond well to treatment. Yes, sepsis is a strong possibility as is heart failure. Dental infections often migrate to the heart valves and cause sudden death. Without a necropsy (autopsy) I cannot tell you for sure what happened. Again, so sorry for your loss.
