My dog has itching, hair loss. Can K9 Advantix II prevent mange?

Does K9 advantix II prevent against mange? My vet prescribed antibactieral medicine but it hasn’t helped the past 4 days and he still occasionally itches. He has patches of hair missing under his legs and when I scratch them there’s a TON of dandruff. Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 88 lbs

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Mich. K9 Advntix II controls the mites that cause sarcoptic mange, but it does not treat it. You need medication from the vet to treat it. I would take him back into the vet to have skin scrapings done to check for mites. If he does have mites, then the vet can prescribe treatment for it.
