My cat has arthritis & allergies. Where to find affordable vet care?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 0 lbs

Tigger my cat has allergies and he has arthritis in his back , my vet would every 3 months give him a long acting antibiotic and I think a B 12 shot and a fast acting painkiller , but then she quit that , she said the fast acting pain killer was good for him and then she quit giving the other shots , she’s done this to him for pass 3-4 years .... I’d like to go holistic she won’t ... she would like to do x-ray on him which would run me over $ 800.00 dollars which I don’t have ,

Poor Tigger. If you'd like to go holistic, there are vets who practice in that manner. I would check around your area to see if there is a holistic vet with whom you can consult. I personally do not recommend it, only because there is no scientific proof holistic methods work, and do recommend the x-rays. I can give you some financial resources that may help you afford the x-rays. You can see if your vet accepts payment plans, if there is a low cost clinic in your area, or you can apply for Care Credit online. There is also an organization called Red Rover that give grants for treatment of sick animals, and you can see if you qualify for one of their grants. Best Friends also has a list of resources that offer financial assistance on their website. http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/resources/tips/trouble_affording_pet.html?credit=web_id91754962 https://www.redrover.org https://www.carecredit.com http://bestfriends.org/resources/financial-aid-pets http://lessonsfromaparalyzeddog.com/when-pet-owners-cant-afford-veterinary-bills/ http://www.dogheirs.com/resources-affordable-veterinary-care/ Best of luck.
