My dog has a swollen, crinkled ear with a bubble. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | 3 years and 11 months old | 13 lbs

So I have already briefly consulted my friend whom is studying to be a vet tech on this, and she believes it to be a mast or a hematoma in his ear. I just noticed it on May 20th once I got home from visiting my Great Aunt over the week. He has a swollen bubble in his ear and the ear is crinkled and misshapen. I NEED ADVICE ON WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM AND WHAT THIS IS. Is it a cyst? Did someone do this to him? How do I help him? Can I save his ear or is it too late? I am freaking

This should be fully examined by a vet and the fluid aspirated and examined under a microscope in order to determine the underlying nature. The longer this is left untreated the greater chance of permanent scarring and deformity.
