My dog has flea allergies. Can I give Benadryl and what's the dose?

Can I give my dog benadryl for an allergic skin reaction to fleas and what is the proper dosage if so

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You can give 1 mg per pound of body weight. So if Luci weighs 100 pounds, she can get 100 mg of Benadryl. This may make her drowsy, however. I recommend using a monthly flea preventative medication such as Frontline or K9 Advantix. I hope this is helpful!
