Pet's info: Dog | Shiba Inu | Male | unneutered | 9 years old | 30 lbs
Last Friday my 9 year old shiba inu suddenly started throwing up, it looked like water with white foam and later in the evening he was throwing up bits of bile. The next morning he seemed fine but he's been drinking more than usual ever since. Not a lot more just slightly more. Can it be that he had an upset stomach and he's drinking more to rehydrate or should I take him to a veterinarian tomorrow. If I take him to the vet which tests should I request?

Hello. At nine years of age & with a sudden change in Mitsu's health, I think you do need to make an appointment with your veterinarian for a good geriatric check-up. Routinely, most veterinarians will want to obtain blood for a complete blood count, serum chemistry analysis, thyroid levels, heartworm exam, & a urine sample. If anything unusual is seen, additional tests may be recommended, but this would be an excellent place to start. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
