What first foods can 4-week-old kittens eat when weaning, like chicken?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Asian | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 19 days old

I have two kittens, 4 week old. Mother cat not present. KMR not available here. Giving them fresh goat milk diluted. However they aren’t as healthy. It’s about time to wean anyway, what shall be the first food given to them? Kitten wet food not available here. Would chicken be okay?

Minced chicken or scrambled eggs can be used to wean kittens but is not balanced for their nutritional needs. A good quality kitten dry food can be moistened with warm water and added through the food after 2-3days until they are eating well.
