My unspayed dog is protective, snapping, and treating toys like pups?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 months and 10 days old | 140 lbs

My dog is all of a sudden being very protective over me and she’s been treating her toys like they are her puppies even though she has never had any puppies. She cleans them and cuddles them and won’t play with them. She also has been snapping at people if they like pretend hit and you say owe. She is also not fixed

She could be having a false pregnancy but that would be extremely unusual in a 6 month old puppy. This could be an indication that she has a severe hormonal issue. I suggest you get her to the vet for an exam. You need to get his under control as soon as possible before he actions turn into serious aggression.
