Why is my lovebird chick's neck twisted and pushed from the nest?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Lovebird | Female | 13 days old | 2 lbs

Hi, my lovebirds just had eggs and Dawn is one of their eggs but they kept pushing him out of the house, and his neck keeps twisting and he's always looking up. I fed him some of the baby bird seed we had but i wanted to ask if its a disease or a disformality with his neck. Hes stuck looking left.

Thanks for reaching out about Dawn and including photo. Could be either. With the twisted neck and clenched right foot, a neurologic condition is likely. Congenital/development problems or diseases such as paramyxoviurs, PBFD, bacterial meningitis, are all possible. A veterinary visit is recommended to assist with a diagnostic/treatment plan. They could be pushing her out of the nest due to her condition, and might need hand-rearing. Good luck.
