My dog's eye looks scratched. Should I wait for his annual vet visit?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 2 years and 4 months old | 55 lbs

I'm not sure what this is. We just noticed it this week so we aren't sure how long it has been there. Parker doesn't seem bothered by it, but wasn't sure if it needed immediate attention. He goes for his annual vet visit in just a couple weeks. It's possible one of our roommate's cats scratched him, but I also can't tell if that's from a scratch.

Its a little hard to appreciate on the photo; it looks like the third eyelid may have been damaged. As long as he isn't pawing at it, rubbing his face on the ground, squinting, or having discharge from his eyes, I don't think you need to rush in. Just have your vet take a look at in at your annual exam. Thanks for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
