Is my dog's black tarry stool from human Meloxicam stomach damage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 10 years and 3 months old | 15 lbs

2 weeks ago my 15lb maltipoo vomited all night from a dose of human Meloxicam of 7.5 mg over. 24 hour period....she was fine after that and 4 days later even had a dental procedure, recovered nicely. Yesterday started with black tarry stool. Could it be the meds damage to stomach?

It seems a little unusual for a single dose of meloxicam to affect Blanca after two weeks, but I suppose it is possible. I'd recommend having your vet examine the stool and Blanca. They might also recommend checking some lab work.
