My cat's behavior changed. Should I worry about sudden friendliness?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 6 years old | 70 lbs

My cat was abused as a kitten, since then hes had a hatred for bald men. He's also hated wet food since he was a kitten, whenever I would pet him he would flinch. Lately when my dad, and my grandfather (both bald) visited they pet him and he allowed them, he didn't hiss like he tends to do, when I gave him wet food he ate it all, and the fact that now when I pet him, he happily accepts them, even bugs me for more. I'm worried about him because he's never been like this. What should I do?

It is very normal for cats to adjust their behavior over time as they get used to things and people that once scared them, especially if your cat is exposed to it often over time through family or friends. However, if the behavioral change is sudden, you are concerned, or there any health symptoms showing up, a vet visit to rule out any issues is always best.
